TWO Greenock schoolchildren are getting creative this Christmas in a bid to put a smile on the faces of patients and staff at Ardgowan Hospice.

Summer Brown and Finn Dyer, both 11, have launched a fundraising campaign which sees them offer ‘poorly drawn pet portraits’ in exchange for donations.

Pet owners can have their furry friends drawn by the crafty pair for a price of £5.

The idea came about after Summer decided she wanted to raise money for the hospice during the festive season.

Greenock Telegraph:

Her family encouraged her to put her love of drawing to good use – so she drafted in some help from classmate Finn.

The Ardgowan Primary School pupils have been very busy with orders in the last few weeks and have already achieved half of their £100 target.

The money they raise will go towards buying Christmas gifts for patients and nurses at the hospice.

Summer said: “They’ve been through a lot so it would be nice to get them something that’s going to make them happy.

“The carers work hard every day, so it would be good to get them something too.”

Greenock Telegraph:

Summer and Finn have had some challenging briefs already, including chickens and – Finn’s favourite portrait so far – a hamster.

Joanna Hunter, fundraising manager at Ardgowan Hospice, said: "We are grateful that Summer and Finn are supporting the hospice while also putting a smile on everyone's faces with such a unique fundraiser."

Summer and Finn will be accepting orders until December 15.
