A GREENOCK man is to stand trial accused of biting a police officer and causing drivers to take evasive action to avoid collisions by walking on a main road in the town.
Michael Wheaton, 34, is charged with assaulting and struggling with the constable on the A78 near Dalrymple Street on February 7.
He faces a further charge of behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by walking on the carriageway, shouting, swearing and uttering offensive remarks.
Wheaton, of Kilcreggan View, pleaded not guilty to the charges through defence solicitor Edel McGinty.
A trial has been set for March 27 next year.
