A LIFESAVING cancer charity has thanked a local group of women who put on a special afternoon tea to raise vital funds for the cause.
Pioneering self-reliance group Five Mummies Make have been making a difference in Inverclyde for the past eight years, putting on events and raising awareness of a range of good causes.
To celebrate their comeback after the pandemic the enterprising group of mums decided to hold an afternoon tea in aid of The Beatson.
Their first big event since 2019 proved a massive success, with £2,500 raised for a charity which helps give cancer patients a fighting chance.
Paying tribute to their incredible work, the Beatson's community engagement fundraiser said that their efforts would make a huge difference.
Seonaidh McGuire said: “We are so grateful for this wonderful support from Five Mummies Make, who have raised over £2,500 for our charity.
“Five Mummies Make is an incredible initiative and groups like this allow our charity to support more people going through cancer treatment.
“The local community has shown us so much support, which will allow us to work on developing new services to enhance the care that cancer patients and their families receive during treatment.”
A fantastic day was had by all at the event, which took place in the Grosvenor Bowling Club in Greenock, as friends and supporters of Five Mummies Make shared some fantastic food, good company and lots of laughs.
The ladies had previously told the Tele how they wanted to show their own support for a close friend fighting cancer and all those affected by the disease across Inverclyde.
Over the years Five Mummies Make have used their love of crafts and creativity to establish their own social enterprise.
