MOTORISTS are being reminded that the A78 will be shut at Wemyss Bay this weekend.
Amey will be carrying out essential carriageway maintenance on behalf of Transport Scotland.
The road will be shut in both directions, at Wemyss Bay and north of Largs.
The full weekend closure will be in effect from 8pm on Friday November 24 until 6am on Monday November 27, for initial works taking place at the Ardgowan Road junction.
This will be followed by overnight closures which will be in place from 8pm on Monday November 27 until 6am on Tuesday November 28, and from 8pm on Tuesday November 28 until 6am the following morning.
A lengthy southbound diversion route will be in operation through Port Glasgow and Kilmacolm all the way to Beith and Kilbirnie then onto Largs, and vice versa for northbound traffic.
Amey say they 'thank road users for their patience and co-operation while this essential work takes place'.
