A POLICE probe is under way following a major incident in the Broomhill area of Greenock overnight.
Investigating officers swarmed the area following a serious disturbance last night. Ambulance crews were also on the scene.
Drumfrochar Road and Cornhaddock Street are still sealed off this morning.
Council chiefs announced that nearby school St Patrick's Primary, which is within the no-go zone, will be closed today as the investigation continues.
Education bosses informed parents that pupils in P1 to P6 would be moved to Whinhill Primary with P7 pupils sent to Notre Dame High.
A council spokesman said: "Due to a police incident near St Patrick's Primary, the school is closed."
Access to Whinhill Primary is also affected by the road closure.
Police Scotland have yet to release any information regarding last night's incident and have been contacted by the Telegraph.
