A GREENOCK couple and their historic west end house are proving hot property as it features in BBC Scotland's Christmas Home of the Year show.
Hannah Green lives in a stunning three bedroom conversion in Ardgowan Square along with partner Gordon Mitchell and their dog Vinnie.
The 39-year-old says she is thrilled to be on the show, particularly at such a special time of the year.
She told the Tele: "It's very exciting, I've always wanted to be on Scotland's Home of the Year and I feel Christmas is a more suitable time."
Hannah says her home is a treat to decorate for the festive season.
The highlight of her festive display is a stunning 12-foot Christmas tree in the oak panelled lounge and there are other trees and tasteful decorations dotted throughout the period property.
Hannah was delighted when the BBC approached her to be on the show via her Instagram account.
The beautiful building which her flat is contained within has a fascinating history. It is called the Mansion House and it dates back to 1886.
Hannah, who is the owner of a recruitment consultancy, said: "The property was owned by the Shaw-Stewart family and was originally Ardgowan House's estate office and there were stables at the back.
"Our current living-room was then a lawyers' office.
"The building had been left unloved for some time then it was fully developed in 2019 into seven apartments."
This is when Hannah and everyone else who had bought a property moved in.
She said: "We all moved in at the same time. It's really nice listed building and it's a privilege to be able to look after it."
In the programme the pair will be put under the spotlight by judges Anna Campbell-Jones, Banjo Beale and new colleague Danny Campbell.
They are battling it out for the festive home crown against four other Christmas crackers: a creatively decorated terraced home in Edinburgh; a traditional cottage in Glasgow's west end; a 'maximalist dream home 'in Perthshire and a glitzy and glamorous town house in East Renfrewshire.
Hannah, who had previously been living in Glasgow, moved to Greenock after following in love with the flat. She says she likes living near the River Clyde and has praised the community feel of the town.
She said: "The first time I saw the property I just loved it. It was a bit of a 'lockdown' purchase. We didn't need to live so near the city anymore, and it gave me the chance to live near the water. There is a good community here."
Hannah says that the living room is her favourite.
She said: "I love the fireplace, the oak panelling and the original window shutters. We have four big Georgian windows, and we get light in from all angles.
"We have three bedrooms and use one as a study. When I moved in the property was fully refurbished, so it was really more about putting our stamp on it.
"I like Scandinavian type furniture, I like to keep things simple. I do like period properties with original features."
You can find out how Hannah and Gordon get on by tuning in to BBC One Scotland on Monday at 8pm.
