A MAN has admitted to kicking and spitting at a police officer in Greenock before behaving in a threatening or abusive manner at the town's hospital.
Mark McGugan pleaded guilty through his solicitor, Gerry Keenan, to two charges at the sheriff court.
McGugan, 47, assaulted a male PC on High Street on May 2 by repeatedly spitting at him and kicking him on the body.
According to court papers, McGugan adopted an aggressive attitude towards police officers in the course of a journey from High Street to Inverclyde Royal on the same day.
He lashed out with his arms and legs, repeatedly shouted, swore and uttered offensive remarks towards officers and acted in an aggressive manner towards them.
Sheriff James Varney ordered background reports to be prepared before sentencing, with the case due to call again on January 24.
