POLICE are treating the death of a woman who was found dead at a property in Greenock as murder.
Officers discovered the bodies of Alison McLaughlin, 53, and Neil McLaughlin, 57, within the address on Banff Road at around 5.05pm last Friday following a report of concern for their welfare.
Detectives have now confirmed that Alison's death is being treated as murder and Neil's death is being treated as non-suspicious.
Police say that extensive enquiries have been carried out at the scene and that they are not looking for anyone else in connection with the deaths.
Detective Inspector Gordon Smith said: “Our thoughts remain with the family and friends of both Alison and Neil.
"They have asked for privacy at what is a very difficult time for them.
“I would like to thank the local community for their patience and understanding while we carried out our investigation.
“A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
