AN assault and robbery accused man has been charged with carrying out a violent attack at the Oak Mall.
Mark Shaw, who also faces three charges of shoplifting, allegedly assaulted a man at the Greenock shopping centre on January 31 last year.
The 38-year-old is said to have repeatedly punched and kicked the alleged victim on the head and body, causing him to strike the ground.
Shaw then robbed the man of a quantity of money, prosecutors claim.
It is also alleged that Shaw, of Lynedoch Street, stole a pressure washer and air fresheners from Farmfoods in Port Glasgow on August 22.
Two days later, he allegedly stole a quantity of cleaning products, food, candles and flowers from Tesco in the Port, while on the same date he is said to have taken further food stuffs and cleaning products from the town's B&M.
A not guilty plea to the charges was submitted on his behalf by lawyer Gerry Keenan and a further court hearing is due to take place on Thursday next week.
