A MAN who had been charged with murdering Greenock woman Colette Law in England has been jailed today.
Paul Neilson, 30, had charges of murder and manslaughter against him dropped by prosecutors at Lincoln Crown Court and has been convicted on three charges of assault and one of attempting to pervert the course of justice.
The body of Colette, 26, was discovered in a tent in the grounds of St Mary and St Nicholas Church in Spalding, Lincolnshire, on July 17 last year.
Ms Law's body was not found for seven days after the final assaults took place on July 10, and during that period her boyfriend Neilson persistently told people that she had gone back to Scotland.
Neilson was today sentenced to four years and eight months imprisonment.
