A CREATIVE Inverclyde charity has received a cash boost of £6,000 from a local fast food outlet.

RIG Arts officials were presented with a cheque for the total by the team at McDonald's in Greenock.

The funds were raised through the McDonald's in the Community Foundation, which gathers proceeds from the 10p carrier bag charge and distributes the money to organisations across Scotland.

The team at RIG Arts will channel the funding into the organisation's Arts & Minds project, which offers weekly mental health support to young people aged eight to 18.

RIG Arts funding officer Karlyn Fergusson said: "We want to thank McDonald's for this generous support.

"The donation has helped us continue to deliver free, arts-led mental health support for young people in Inverclyde.

"The support to enhances the lives of young people and has a meaningful impact on the local community."

McDonald's franchisee Alan Halliday, who owns and operates the restaurant in Greenock, said: "The work RIG Arts does in our community is vital and we're glad that we've been able to support them with this donation.

"We look forward to building on this partnership in the future."
