I AM hosting another public information event next Monday in the Beacon for constituents who’ve been affected by McClure Solicitors going into administration in 2021.
This will mirror the previous event I held in January and is aimed at those who couldn’t attend due to it being a sell-out.
Like the first event, the chief executive of the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission (SLCC) will be in attendance to outline what the organisation can and cannot do as the body responsible for handling complaints about the conduct or service of a solicitor in Scotland.
At the time of writing, almost 100 tickets had been secured so if you haven’t already booked a ticket on Eventbrite or by contacting my office, I’d encourage you to do so as there’s limited number of seats available.
If you can’t attend, my office can provide you with information regarding the SLCC and how to make a complaint to them if this is applicable to you – so again, please don’t delay in contacting my office if you’re a former McClure’s client.
Finally, I want to comment on the new XL Bully dog safeguards that are being introduced in Scotland.
I, like the Scottish Government, recognise that most dog owners are responsible animal lovers who understand owning a dog brings with it important responsibilities. Nonetheless, the government had to respond to circumstances in other parts of the UK. They did not take the decision to depart from the ‘deed not breed’ approach lightly.
If you own an XL Bully dog, please take the necessary steps ahead of the first stage of legal safeguards coming into force on 23 February.
