AN Inverclyde band are gearing up for their biggest year yet after headlining a famous venue, releasing a new single and gaining their first ever radio play within the space of a fortnight.

Bride kicked off 2024 in style by topping the bill at the legendary King Tut’s for the first time.

The gig came just days after singer Caragh Power, guitarists Charlie McQueen and Aedan McVey, bassist Luke Harkins and drummer Lewis Rorison – all aged 18 – released their latest single, Paralysis.

Aedan told the Tele: “It was the first gig of the year, so it was really special.

“That feeling of headlining King Tut’s was amazing.

Greenock Telegraph:

“It’s definitely in line with what we’re trying to do this year.

“We had spent that week writing a lot of new tunes, so it was a good chance to try those out and see how they performed live.”

Bride’s strong start to the year continued the following week when Paralysis hit the airwaves across the UK thanks to Radio X’s John Kennedy.

Described as the station’s ‘guru of new music', John hosts a late night show every Friday and Saturday.

Aedan said: “We got an email through saying John really liked the song and that it would be played that night.

“A few of us were on a weekend away, so we were sitting in the lounge and heard it on the radio.

“It completely changes how you listen to it.

Greenock Telegraph:

“We looked back on when we first recorded it on someone’s phone and it sounds so different.

“It was amazing to have that memory of starting out.”

The youngsters are now preparing for their next gig, which will take place at Broadcast in Glasgow on February 17.

The ‘Big in 2024’ show will see a number of acts take to the stage, including Dovv, The Rampants, Strange Dimensions and Theta.

Aedan said: “We want to get as many people as possible from Inverclyde there - it’s really nice to have that support from where you come from.

“We’ve got a few things in the works for the rest of the year as well.

“Our goal is to get support slots and festival slots, to try build a bigger audience.

“It’s our first year out of school and we all know that this is what we want to do.”
