DRAINAGE improvement works on the A78 in Wemyss Bay have been extended by six weeks due to on-site complications.
Amey has been carrying out work on the route since January 22, with the scheme having an original completion date of Friday.
Two-way temporary traffic lights have been in place throughout the project, as well as a full closure of Wemyss Bay Road at its junction with Shore Road.
Work has now been halted due to problems ‘working around existing utilities’.
An update issued by Amey stated: “We are working closely with utility companies to resolve this and a revised end for the programme date will be communicated in due course.
“Traffic management shall remain in operation at this time to protect road users.
“We thank road users for their patience and apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
The roadworks are now expected to continue until March 28.
The drainage work forms part of a wider package of improvements for the area, which Amey anticipates will benefit around 11,700 road users daily.
