AN INJURED pedestrian was hospitalised after being hit by a car in Greenock this morning.
Police have confirmed that a woman was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment following the incident on the A78 Inverkip Road, near the junction with Neil Street.
A red Volkswagen Polo was seen parked at a bus stop on the road with substantial damage to the front windscreen and bonnet of the vehicle.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “We received a report of a crash involving a car and a female pedestrian on Inverkip Road, Greenock, around 9.25am on Monday, February 19.
“Emergency services attended and the female pedestrian was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.
“Recovery has been arranged for the car and enquiries are ongoing."
In an update this afternoon, police revealed that a 64-year-old man has been charged in connection with the incident. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.
