A CONCERNED councillor has warned that more jobs are in danger of moving out of Inverclyde unless urgent investment action is taken.
Martin McCluskey, who will be Labour's candidate at this year's general election, spoke following the decision by RBS to axe 30 jobs at their Greenock mortgage centre.
It followed hot on the heels of BT deciding to shut their EE call centre nearby and move 450 posts to Glasgow. Over the last year other key employers like Amazon and Berry BPI have also pulled out of the district.
Mr McCluskey says the Scottish Government must now invest in Inverclyde instead of the big cities.
He told the Tele: "This once again shows why we need to fight to defend every job in
Inverclyde - we can't afford to lose any more.
"It is now beyond time for the Scottish Government to come forward with a package to support
the Inverclyde economy.
"Their continued failure to do so risks the loss of more jobs, or roles moving out of the area to Glasgow or further afield.
"Time and again, we see the Government invest in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee. Where is the investment for Inverclyde?"
