A MAN charged with injuring two people at a Greenock house in an alleged double assault and robbery returned to the same address a fortnight later and threatened to petrol bomb the property, it is alleged.

Stephen O'Neill, 48, and co-accused Paul Harkins, 38, are said to have assaulted a woman at a home in Larkfield last year.

The pair repeatedly punched the alleged female victim and struck her on the head with a mug while demanding money and robbing her of cash, a handbag and its contents, prosecutors claim.

O'Neill and Harkins are further charged with striking a man on the body with a crowbar during the same alleged incident on March 10 last year.

Court papers claim that around two weeks later, on March 25, O'Neill went back to the house and assaulted another man by hitting him to his body and injuring him with a wooden oar.

It is claimed that O'Neill behaved in a threatening or abusive manner and placed the three complainers in a state of fear and alarm by shouting, swearing, repeatedly demanding money, uttering threats of violence, repeatedly striking windows with a crowbar and breaking them, and threatening to petrol bomb the house.

O'Neill is also charged with having unlawful possession of a crowbar and a knife, while Harkins is said to have breached curfew restrictions as part of a separate bail order.

Both men appeared from custody at Greenock Sheriff Court and Harkins had a bail application refused by Sheriff James Spy.

They continue to deny the allegations.

A further pre-trial hearing has been scheduled for March 19, before a trial set to begin on April 2.

Both men will remain in custody in the meantime.
