TWO Greenock jail inmates used an improvised weapon to slash a fellow prisoner, it is alleged.
Nathan Hynes and William Edwards assaulted Craig McFarlane with a makeshift item containing a razor blade, according to prosecutors.
The Crown claims that Hynes, 26, and Edwards, 31, acted together during the alleged incident on March 19, 2022 and pursued McFarlane before striking him on the head with an 'improvised weapon'.
The pair are also alleged to have kicked him on the head to his injury.
Hynes, who faces three indictment charges, is accused of having unlawful possession of a weapon and being in possession of a razor blade inside the jail.
Both men pleaded not guilty through their solicitors after appearing from custody at Greenock Sheriff Court.
Sheriff James Varney continued the case to a debate hearing on March 19.
