AN emergency lane closure on the A8 at Dalrymple Street in Greenock is being put in place from today for up to six weeks because of a potentially dangerous building.
The single lane closure is outside the Inverclyde Centre for the homeless, to allow for emergency works to the building.
Work is required to examine potentially dangerous brickwork.
The section of pavement outside the centre will also be closed.
Inverclyde Council says the closures are for the 'safety of road users and pedestrians and to allow for the erection of scaffolding'.
There will be a pedestrian diversion and protective walkway in place and staff and residents will still be able to access the building during the works.
The work is being led by Inverclyde Council in consultation with Amey, which manages the trunk road network on behalf of Transport Scotland.
