A WOMAN who is said to be the victim of an armed robbery has passed away before her alleged female attacker stands trial, Greenock Sheriff Court has heard.
The woman was repeatedly punched and kicked on the body by accused Kimberley McKay before being headbutted and struck with a knife, according to prosecutors.
McKay is accused of inflicting multiple blade blows on the woman's body to her injury.
The 36-year-old is also said to have robbed the alleged serious assault victim of a quantity of money during the incident at a property on Greenock's Roxburgh Way on August 24, 2021.
During a pre-trial calling of the case, solicitor Amy Spencer told the court that the complainer in the indictment charge is now deceased.
McKay faces further allegations of attending the same address uninvited on October 21, 2022 whilst brandishing a knife and a saw.

It is claimed that she repeatedly hit and damaged a door at the property and repeatedly shouted and swore.
She is charged with having unlawful possession of the bladed weapons without reasonable excuse.
According to court papers, she breached an October 2022 bail order by failing to attend Greenock police station over five days in December 2022.
She also allegedly breached 7pm-7am curfew restrictions on three separate dates in the same month.
Meanwhile, on December 18, 2022 at Greenock police station, officers are said to have discovered an unprotected razor blade and a sharp-tipped needle in her pockets during a search after she denied being in possession of any such instruments.
It is alleged that McKay 'exposed officers to the risk of injury and infection'.
McKay has denied all of the the alleged offences through her lawyer and a jury trial date has been scheduled for May 13.
She will remain on bail.
