A SUCCESSFUL Inverclyde beauty business is helping a dedicated Greenock Wanderers coach drive rugby forward in schools.

The team behind Brow House Permanent Cosmetics have donated a car which will be used by the club's rugby development officer and academy manager Clare Nicholson. 

Clare travels to schools all over Inverclyde giving youngsters the chance to give the sport a try. 

Ashleigh Crighton and her dad Iain, who are at the helm of Brow House, decided to donate the fully-financed Kia Ceed to help Clare continue to do a great job.

Clare says the car will be a huge help as it will enable her to ferry all her equipment around. 

She said: "It will help me so much with my job. I'm so grateful to Ashleigh and Iain.

"I used to drive around in a wee Ford Fiesta and I didn't have a passenger seat or back seat by the time I had loaded all of the equipment in."

Clare started at Greenock Wanderers as a player around nine years ago and alongside her work in the schools, she continues to play and coach at the club.

She says being able to teach youngsters rugby is a privilege. 

Clare added: "I love working with kids, they're so full of joy. 

"A lot of them didn't know what rugby was before I started going into the schools.

"I love rugby and love all the values in the sport.

"I fell in love with the atmosphere at Murrayfield years ago, it got me hooked and it's in my blood now."

Brow House Permanent Cosmetics started sponsoring Greenock Wanderers Women & Girls back in the 2020/21 season. 

Their connection with the club helped the Wanderers make the changing facilities within the clubhouse more female-friendly by installing a beauty bar where players can do their hair and make-up after a game. 

Ashleigh Crighton of Brow House said: "Clare does a fantastic job and is a very important cog in the wheel at the club. 

"Donating the car cements our commitment to the Wanderers and shows how much we appreciate everything Clare is doing to get youngsters involved in rugby."

Tony Barrie, vice president of finance at Greenock Wanderers, added: "It's a wonderful thing for the job that Clare does. 

"We've got our logo on the car as well so it will give us good visibility all over the area. 

"Hopefully even more people will get to know who Clare is and what she does, and she's already really engaged with all the schools. 

"It will help us to enhance our relationships even more, making sure rugby is a big part of the curriculum."
