A MAN was taken to hospital in the early hours of this morning after an alleged serious assault in Greenock.
Uniformed officers and CID police were seen on Belville Street responding to the incident on Saturday.
The Telegraph understands that no arrests have yet been made but police say they are 'following positive lines of enquiry'.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 5.45am on Saturday, March 16, police were called to a property on Belville Street, Greenock, following the serious assault of a 37-year-old man.
"He was taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital for treatment and officers are following positive lines of enquiry.”
