TWO local politicians will host a drop-in surgery to provide energy bill support to constituents next week.
Stuart McMillan MSP and Ronnie Cowan MP are working with the Wise Group to help distribute fuel vouchers and advice to local people.
A session will take place at Mr McMillan’s office on Grey Place between 10am and 1pm on Tuesday, followed by a similar event at Mr Cowan’s Crawfurd Street office from 1-3pm on Thursday.
Mr McMillan said: “Ronnie and I have demonstrated our commitment to helping our constituents by continuing to organise cost of living surgeries – working with both local and national services to provide advice and support on a range of issues.
“We therefore welcomed this approach from the Wise Group and were more than happy to work with them to ensure this additional funding is distributed to those who need it.
“This funding runs out on 1 April, so we’re encouraging everyone who is struggling with their energy costs to come along.
“The Wise Group have said that most households who attend the drop-in sessions will receive £150 towards their energy bills and/or £89 in fuel vouchers, as well as the wider offer of Wise Group support.
“Clearly, this money will go a long way to helping hard-pressed households, so I want to thank the Wise Group for reaching out and working with Ronnie and myself to ensure more local people stand to benefit from this help.”
