AN ALLEGED dangerous driver is said to have travelled without a licence on the wrong side of the main route linking Greenock and Port Glasgow while intoxicated.
According to prosecutors, Mark Bell drove at excessive speed, failed to keep a proper lookout and caused his MG vehicle to swerve onto other lanes on the A8 to the danger of all road users.
The 39-year-old is charged with driving dangerously on the path intended for oncoming traffic on the dual carriageway and a roundabout on October 22, 2022.
It is claimed that he was driving the car while unfit through drink or drugs and without a valid licence or insurance policy.
Bell, of Cardross Avenue in the Port, has had a trial scheduled for October 10 at Greenock Sheriff Court after denying the alleged offences through solicitor Derek Buchanan.
