A GREENOCK credit union has begun an ‘exciting new chapter’ after merging with a service in Renfrewshire.
The board of Tail O’ The Bank (TOTB) Credit Union recently voted in favour of joining forces with Right Way Credit Union in Paisley.
The move comes after the not-for-profit organisation saw a reduction in volunteers in recent years, which has made the day-to-day running of the business ‘more challenging’.
Members of the board say the merger will ensure long-term sustainability and growth for TOTB Credit Union.
Right Way is an established community credit union which serves more than 5,000 people across the west of Scotland.
Karen Wallace, chief executive officer at Right Way, said: “Celebrating the merger marks an exciting new chapter for both our credit unions.
“By joining forces, we’re not only expanding our reach to serve over 11,000 people across the West of Scotland but shows our commitment across the credit union sector in delivering exceptional member service.
“The merger will see a wealth of opportunities ensuring that we can better support our valued members in achieving their financial goals.”
The merger will see an enhancement to the level of services provided by TOTB Credit Union, including ‘huge improvements’ to its online offering.
Members will be able to access their accounts via a mobile app, but the Kilblain Street office will remain open for those who would prefer to visit in-person.
