AN actor who was championed by Greenock-born thespian Richard Wilson is set to become the first Scottish star to portray Star Trek's Scotty.
Scottish actor Martin Quinn, who hails from Paisley, was spotted by Richard Wilson and the late Alan Rickman while performing on London's West End.
The pair funded the last portion of the young actor's scholarship that let him attend Guildhall drama school in London.
It has now been announced that Quinn will take on the role of the much loved Star Trek character Scotty in the upcoming prequel series Star Trek: Strange New Worlds.
