A MURDER bid accused charged with raping a woman multiple times and sexually assaulting a child during more than a decade of alleged abuse is set to stand trial at the High Court.
Kenneth Elliot dragged his alleged adult victim onto a veranda and tried to push her from it and also throttled her at a property in Port Glasgow whilst threatening to kill her, prosecutors claim.
The Crown says he pulled the woman's arms, dragged her onto a veranda and 'did attempt to murder' her.
Elliot, 47, faces a total of 16 indictment charges including several alleged rapes, sexual assaults against a young child, drug dealing and causing a dog unnecessary suffering.

It is alleged that he controlled and monitored the woman's movements between December 2012 and March 2019, uttered threats of violence, induced her to consume controlled drugs, followed her and climbed a drainpipe to enter her address uninvited.
He attacked the complainer on various occasions over the same time period by pulling her hair, punching her on the head and body, throwing her outside a home and refusing her re-entry, pushing her face into a mirror, sitting on top of her and repeatedly choking her all to her injury, it is claimed.
The woman was allegedly raped and sexually assaulted by Elliot on various occasions between December 2012 and December 2021.
He is further charged with being concerned in the supplying of cocaine between September 2014 and December 2021 at locations in the Port, Greenock and elsewhere.
Between September 2018 and December 2021, Elliot is alleged to have caused a dog unnecessary suffering during numerous claimed incidents by punching and kicking the animal on its head and body.

Court papers claim that he also repeatedly assaulted a young child over the course of eight years by grabbing their arm and neck, pushing them on their body causing them to fall to the ground and striking them on the head.
It is alleged that on various occasions between March 2014 and September 2018, Elliot sexually assaulted the same child.
Prosecutors say he blindfolded the youngster with a cord in one alleged incident.
Elliot is also said to have entered the child's bed, lay beside them and pressed his body against theirs on various occasions between between 2018 and 2021.
Elliot, of Greenock, is further accused of grabbing the neck of a different child and dragging them on a date in 2020.
He appeared for a preliminary hearing at the High Court in Glasgow and a trial is scheduled to start in January next year.
A further pre-trial High Court hearing has been set for August.
Elliot has been released on bail.
