AN attacker who carried out a violent assault at his Greenock home which left his victim bloodied and bruised has been placed on an electronic tagging order.
Kevin McDiarmid grabbed the man and threw him to the ground at his flat in the town before repeatedly punching and kicking him to the face and body.
The complainer had cuts to his face and lip, while he also suffered bruising to both of his arms and needed medical treatment at Inverclyde Royal Hospital following the attack.
McDiarmid, 38, was sentenced for the assault to injury and a bail breach offence at Greenock Sheriff Court.
The hearing was told that McDiarmid had been 'out for a few drinks' on April 12, 2023 and returned to the address shortly before 1am.
A procurator fiscal depute told the court that an argument began over the care of a dog after McDiarmid had taken it out for a brief walk.

The victim's girlfriend called police after McDiarmid launched into the attack in the living room of the property, and officers who later attended noted the victim was 'physically upset and distressed' with blood and small lacerations on his face.
Droplets of blood were also noticed in the home.
Whilst under caution, McDiarmid stated: "He started on me, so I hit him."
McDiarmid, now of Auchmountain View, breached bail conditions earlier this year by being in the company of three people he was told to stay away from.
Defence solicitor Gerry Keenan said his client was 'not proud of his behaviour' and added that 'there was provocation'.
Mr Keenan said: "The parties had been drinking over the course of the afternoon and Mr McDiarmid clearly lost his temper."
Sheriff James Varney said he was 'just satisfied' that an alternative to custody was available despite McDiarmid's criminal record.
McDiarmid was sentenced to a 23-week restriction of liberty order requiring him to stay at home between 7pm and 7am each day.
