A PORT Glasgow pensioner is due to stand trial charged with seriously injuring a cyclist in an alleged careless driving incident.
John Monkhouse, 77, is accused of failing to keep proper lookout at the junction between Bridge of Weir Road and Lochwinnoch Road in Kilmacolm and pulling out in front of the man on December 13 last year.
It is claimed that the alleged victim fell from his bike onto the bonnet of the OAP's Vauxhall Astra before tumbling onto the opposing carriageway.
Solicitor Gerry Keenan tendered a pleaded of not guilty on his client's behalf and the case has been continued to trial on August 13.
