LANE closures will be in place in Greenock throughout May and June to allow council staff to clear litter and debris from the A8.
The work will take place on Sunday mornings this month and next when traffic is quieter in order to minimise the impact on drivers.
All closures will run from 6.30am until 2pm.
Inverclyde Council is responsible for keeping trunk roads free from litter and has been given permission from Amey, the trunk road authority, to close lanes and implement traffic management to protect workers.
The affected sections of road and dates are: May 19 - A8 Main Street/Rue End St, from Cartsdyke Roundabout to Dellingburn St Junction; May 26 - A8 Port Glasgow Road/East Hamilton St from Bogston to Cartsdyke Roundabout; June 2 - A8 Greenock Road from Newark Roundabout to Port Glasgow Road Junction; June 9 - No closures A8 Greenock Road from Newark Roundabout to Bullring Roundabout, mobile mechanical sweeper works; June 16 - A8 Greenock Road from Newark Roundabout to Finlaystone Country Park; June 23 - A8 Greenock Road from Newark Roundabout to Finlaystone Country Park.
This is the first phase of the works, with another scheduled for autumn.
This is the first time the council has been able to access the A8 since 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic followed by Scottish Water drainage works at East Hamilton Street.
