A VAN driver who pleaded guilty to driving under the influence has been disqualified before a sheriff decides on his punishment.
Thomas Main admitted to the Road Traffic Act offence at Greenock Sheriff Court on Friday and will be sentenced next month.
The 48-year-old was stopped by police officers on Ann Street on April 14 this year driving a white Ford Transit vehicle when the proportion of alcohol in his breath was 35mcg/100ml; the legal limit in Scotland is 22mcg/100ml.
Sheriff James Varney said he wanted to know more about a previous conviction from 2006 before confirming the disposal of the case.
Main, from Ayr, is due to return to court on June 12 and he has been from holding or obtaining a licence in the interim.
