A PUBLIC procession potentially featuring more than 3,000 Orange Order members is planned for Gourock next month.
A proposal has been submitted to Inverclyde Council for the annual Boyne celebration parade, organised by the County Grand Lodge of Ayrshire, Renfrewshire and Argyll.
The march will start at Battery Park and proceed along Eldon Street, Cardwell Road, Broomberry Drive, Barhill Road, St John’s Road, Shore Street and Chapel Street, before heading back along Cardwell Road and Eldon Street and finishing at Battery Park.
According to the council notice, the procession will exit Battery Park at approximately 2.30pm on its return and proceed along Eldon Street to the Esplanade where it will terminate.
Between 2,500 and 3,000 walkers are expected to attend the event on June 29, which would have a start time of 11.30am.
The organisation's parade took place in Cumnock in East Ayrshire last year, while it was held in Ayr in 2022, with various streets affected by temporary road restrictions.
Public comments can be made in writing to the council regarding the proposed Gourock parade; the last date for submissions is May 22.
