A CAR crash blocked the main road from Gourock to Greenock this morning.

A vehicle smashed into metal barriers on Cardwell Road, near Cove Road and Manor Crescent shortly before 7am.

The pavement barriers were left completely mangled by the force of the impact, which also resulted in the entire front bumper of the damaged car being ripped off.

Greenock Telegraph:

The road was closed for a period of time before the arrival of police and a recovery truck.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 6am on Friday, May 24,police received a report of a road crash on Cardwell Road, Gourock.

"Emergency services attended.

"There were no reports of any injuries and enquiries are ongoing."
