A GREENOCK blade thug who repeatedly knifed a stranger in a random bus stop attack and threatened to use a 13-and-a-half inch machete has been jailed.
Jordan A'Hara, 20, repeatedly lunged at two men whilst in possession of a knife and chased one onto a bus to continue the unprovoked attack.
He struck one of the victims multiple times with the bladed weapon, inflicting cuts to his hand, torso and back.
A Greenock sentencing hearing was told that the vicious attack in Glasgow was carried out late at night on July 11 last year when the men, who were unknown to A'Hara, were standing at a bus stop on Hope Street.
He was spared jail and handed a community payback order, however, he is today beginning a sentence for a litany of offences committed in Inverclyde.
His lawyer conceded that A'Hara had 'closed the door' on a non-custodial sentence.

He was previously convicted, along with co-accused Kyle McDade, of stealing a GPS system worth £700 from a vessel at East India Harbour in January 2021.
In a further incident last year, A'Hara caused a disturbance at a property on Maple Road in Greenock which involved a large machete.
A procurator fiscal depute said the knife offender had been drinking with others in the flat before being told to leave.
The fiscal depute said: "However, he caused a further disturbance and was heard by the witnesses to issue threats and shout 'Get the machete', 'Gies that machete', and 'I'll machete you'.

"999 calls were made to report the incident. Police arrived shortly thereafter and were met by four individuals in the distance.
"Officers noted the accused to reach into his chest area and then noted a large machete in his hand with a grey and black handle.
"He continued towards officers before being detained and he threw the blade down a grass embankment into some undergrowth."
A'Hara was handcuffed and a large machete sheath was found on his person, while the machete was later discovered to have a 13-and-a-half inch blade.
He also admitted to shouting homophobic abuse at a police officer on the same day in February 2022.
Defence solicitor Gerry Keenan said A'Hara had a difficult upbringing.
Mr Keenan said: "He committed these crimes when he was still very young and indeed he is still very young, only 20-years-old.
"He misused drugs, drank to excess and kept the wrong company, then found himself getting involved in all kinds of public disorder."
Sheriff James Varney said that it was 'disappointing' that A'Hara had not 'taken advantage' of being spared jail for the indictment matter in Glasgow and said that no alternative was available for the other cases.
Sheriff Varney sentenced A'Hara to a total of 15 months imprisonment.
