A WEMYSS Bay butchers has brought home the bacon by clinching awards for a range of summer products.
McCaskie’s enjoyed success at the Craft Butcher Awards following an evaluation of its home cured bacon products at Forth Valley College in Stirling.
The business won gold for its bacon cheese bites, smoked bacon and unsmoked Ayrshire bacon.
Several products were also handed silver awards, including their bacon and black pudding meatballs, smoked streaky bacon, unsmoked streaky bacon and unsmoked dry cure bacon.

Owner Nigel Ovens was delighted to be presented with the awards at a recent Scottish Craft Butchers meeting at Garfield House Hotel in Stepps.
Gordon King, Scottish Craft Butchers executive manager, said: “The competition attracted a wide variety of innovative and imaginative products using home cured bacon and our craft butchers from all over Scotland thought outside the box to deliver this year’s favourites and offer something new and exciting for their customers.”
Earlier this week, Nigel retained Scotland’s National Black Pudding Championship title for 2024 with an unprecedented fourth championship win in the national competition.
