COUNCIL chiefs have lodged a bid for nearly £600,000 to set up an anti-poverty hub in Port Glasgow.
Officers want to base it in the Boglestone area of the town, to help families struggling to get by.
They plan to bring a range of services together under one roof to aid lone parents, families with a disabled adult or child, kinship carers, ethnic minorities and larger families as well.
They have submitted a bid to the Scottish Government and hope to be awarded in the region of £300,000 both this financial year and next.
