HOUSING association River Clyde Homes has been praised by two Greenock councillors for making a key part of the east end easier to access for families.
Michael McCormick and Colin Jackson praised the social landlord for reinstating a set of stairs joining Kilmacolm Road to Strathblane Road.
They say this will make life easier for families travelling to All Saints Primary and Blairmore Nursery from areas like Leven Road, Renton Road and Balloch Road.
Councillor McCormick said: "Members of the school and nursery community got in touch to ask when the stairs would be reopened.
"They had been shut for years and the public couldn't access them.
"I raised the concerns of the school community with River Clyde Homes and they took action.
"It's great to see the work almost completed, and to know that they'll be used safely by families."
A RCH spokesperson said: "River Clyde Homes is committed to investing in our communities and ensuring our estates are well-maintained and easy for residents to navigate.
"This project is part of that commitment, and we appreciate the councillors highlighting its positive impact.
"We hope the works will be completed by the end of the month."
