Amey, which manages Scotland’s trunk road network, says traffic management will be removed by 6am on June 7.
A diversion will be in place during the closure, with traffic being directed to join Brown Street at Glen Roundabout.
Drivers should then follow Balfour Street, Glen Avenue, Lilybank Road, Birkmyre Avenue, Farquhar Road, Mitchell Street, Lansbury Avenue and Gibshill Road to rejoin the A8.
Phase two of the works – due to take place between June 7 and 12 – will involve an overnight closure of the westbound carriageway between Gibshill Road and Ratho Street.
