THE cruise ship season is well underway in Inverclyde - with a surprise visit this morning.

French liner Renaissance arrived into the Ocean Terminal unannounced, having not been on the scheduled list of visiting vessels.

The ship, built 30 years ago, recently re-entered service again flying under the Bermuda flag with operators CFC-Caomagnie Francaise Criosieres.

She first operated as Massdan for Holland America Line and mostly sailed in north America.
