AN Inverclyde health and social care worker has won an award for the support she provides to local children.

Aileen Wilson, who is residential care team leader at the local health and social care partnership, was recognised with an overall regional winner prize at NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde’s Celebrating Success Awards held last night.

Judges described her as having 'values rooted in compassion and the rights of children'.

Aileen manages three children’s houses locally, including a large staff team.

Her colleagues told how she'd developed 'a culture of trust where children’s voices are listened to and their views are taken seriously'.

At the awards event, held at the Radisson hotel in Glasgow, 18 winners were announced across NHS GGC’s local sectors and partnership areas.

During the event, more than £2,800 was raised for cancer support charity Maggie’s.

Dr Lesley Thomson KC, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde Chair, said: “The NHS GGC Celebrating Success Awards are an opportunity for us to recognise the hard work and incredible dedication shown by our staff and volunteers year-round.

“This year’s winners are fantastic examples of how health and social care staff routinely go above and beyond to ensure patients get the best possible care.

“Every award winner and nominee should be immensely proud of themselves for the contribution they make to the delivery of healthcare in Scotland.”
