A MAN has been taken to hospital following an assault in Greenock earlier this afternoon.
Police were called to Lansbury Street in Gibshill at around 2:45pm.
Part of the road is currently closed to traffic, with marked vehicles still in attendance.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 2.45pm on Friday, 31 May, 2024, police were called to a report of a man found injured after being assaulted in Lansbury Street, Greenock.
“Emergency services attended and the victim was taken to the Royal Alexandra Hospital for treatment.
“Enquiries are at an early stage to establish the full circumstances.”
A bus route has been diverted due to the police cordon.
