A TOTAL of 322 deaths were recorded in Inverclyde during the first quarter of 2024.
The figure falls below last year’s quarter one total of 356.
Statistics from National Records of Scotland show that, nationally, 16,755 deaths were registered between January and March this year – almost nine per cent lower than the expected number.
In the same period, 11,560 babies were welcomed across Scotland – with 170 being born in Inverclyde.
