A GREENOCK man is to stand trial charged with assaulting and robbing his former partner.
John McElwee, 49, is accused of seizing the woman by the body and throwing her to the ground on Inverkip Street on June 7.
It is further alleged that he struggled with her before robbing her of a purse and £60 in cash.
McElwee appeared from custody at Greenock Sheriff Court, where he pleaded not guilty to the offences through solicitor Aidan Gallagher.
Sheriff Anthony McGeehan granted him bail on the condition that he does not approach or contact the complainer or enter a named street in Greenock.
McElwee is due to return to court for trial on August 13.
