A COUNCILLOR has provided an update on a flood-hit road in Greenock which has been plagued by drainage issues for years.

Westmorland Road has faced issues with drainage for years, with fed-up residents issuing a call last year for Inverclyde Council and Scottish Water to bring an end to the issue.

Councillor Tommy McVey, whose ward includes the street, now says that the council have recently completed detailed survey work at the site which will help them bring forward a solution.

He added: "The latest update I have is that Council Roads Services and Scottish Water are continuing to liaise over possible solutions to the ongoing flooding issues at Westmoreland Road.

"Roads Services have recently completed further detailed surveys and investigations at the location and on the surrounding drainage network.

"The survey results are currently being reviewed by Scottish Water and Roads Services to consider network capacity and undertake network modelling and planning, to develop and progress a viable solution that can be taken forward to resolve this issue."
