GREENOCK'S local cinema has issued a plea for understanding after taking the difficult decision to move away from its reduced pricing scheme.

The Waterfront Cinema had trialled lowering its admission fees over the last three months in a bid to boost footfall, but have now confirmed they will have to revert their fees back to the pricing scheme they used between 2016 and 2022.

In a statement online the cinema said: "Even with our reduced pricing, we have continued to see a decline in the admissions we were seeing in April and have just had our quietest month since 2022.

"We hope that you can understand we would have loved to keep the reduced pricing scheme, but it is unattainable with other rising costs and the current level of business.

"After taking some time to weigh up this trial period we have decided to revert to our pricing used from 2016 to 2022."

The new pricing structure is as follows: Adult - £8.50, Teenager/Student - £7.50, Concession - £7, Child - £6.50 and Family Tickets - £6.50 per person.

Cinema-goers can also get their tickets at a discounted rate of £6 by pre-booking online up until the day before their film is screened using the code 'PREBOOK' at the checkout.

These tickets can also be booked at the cinema's counter or over the telephone.
