GREENOCK actor Martin Compston brushed shoulders with legendary football manager Sir Alex Ferguson at a glitzy charity bash in Germany after Scotland got their Euro 2024 campaign underway.

The Line of Duty star was one of a number of famous faces who raised the roof at the charity fundraiser, which was held in Munich after Scotland's 5-1 loss to the Germans in the opening game of the tournament.

Martin took to Instagram after the event and shared a picture of him talking to the former Manchester United manager at the gala, as well as a snap of him with his former Soccer Aid coach Jose Mourinho.

Also in attendance were popular pundit and former Scotland striker Ally McCoist, singer songwriter Amy Macdonald and retired racing driver David Coulthard.

On his Instagram, Martin wrote:" Surreal couple of days with the Tartan Army, personal highlights getting chance to have a blether with the great man Sir Alex and a catch up with the my old soccer aid gaffer the hero that is Jose after an early custard pie."

The 40-year-old is currently hosting a special series for BBC Scotland called 'Late Night at the Euros' in which he and his broadcaster pal Gordon Smart explore some of Germany's most distinctive tourist attractions and get into the matchday mood with locals and Scotland supporters.
