FAMILIES at a Port Glasgow nursery have come together to raise vital funds to help children get the best summer send off.

Parents worked closely with staff to fund end of year activities and fun events at Rainbow Family Centre.

By the end of their fundraising quiz night with pizza, the team had raised an incredible £2,000.

Thanks to their support all the youngsters at Rainbow Family Centre enjoyed a fantastic family fun day.

And those graduating are having a very special celebration cereomony.

Organiser Ursula Smith, a early learning support officer, said: "We would like to thank all the parents and staff who helped with the quiz night.

"It was a fantastic fundraiser and we raised a lot of money. It is not easy for families right now and this way we are able to treat the children at the end of year.

"We are a family centre and we try to support our families in all kinds of ways."

Families and staff turned up in large numbers for the fun quiz night.

Rainbow Family Centre use funds to help with resources and to provide a real variety of experiences in the nursery.

They have welcomed the likes of Belville Community Garden's Dinky Diggers to the family centre.

The community gardens also stepped in to provide an outdoor play area at Rainbow Family Centre.

At the end of the year Rainbow Family Centre, which supports more than 100 children, send the youngsters off to school with a special awards.

Staff and parents would like to thanks the nearby Hibs Club for hosting the evening free of charge and Domino for donations of pizzas
