PLANS have been drawn up for a five-bedroom house to replace a fire-damaged former home near a Greenock golf course.

East Kilbride-based agents DTA Architects, on behalf of applicants Zoom Developments Holdings, have submitted an application to Inverclyde Council for the Whinhill Lodge site on Glenbrae Road.

Five parking spaces are proposed for the vacant land, which currently has the remains of the burnt-out building and shed, with plans to erect a replacement house and garage.

A supporting statement said: "The design proposals seek to deliver a high quality, one-and-a-half storey detached dwelling offering modern and bright living accommodation.

"At ground floor, a large open-plan kitchen/living/dining area to the rear will offer modern living space with large areas of glazing to enjoy views over the countryside.

"A separate lounge, playroom, WC and utility complete the ground floor.

"A feature double-height entrance hall leads up to the first floor, which contains five bedrooms, again designed to enjoy the views of the surrounding area.

"The house itself sits comfortably within the plot and mainly on the footprint of the previous fire-damaged house and shed, with large gardens to the front and rear.

"The new private driveway off the road utilises an existing access point to create ample parking for several cars."

Council planning officials will reach a decision on the proposals in the coming weeks.
