MORE than 40 poems composed by a Greenock sea captain have been discovered in a wardrobe in Sussex.
The collection was penned two months into George Dempster’s first voyage as captain of the Thomas Lowry in 1857.
Chronicling life on board the vessel, the works have been transcribed and published on Amazon Kindle in a book titled Son of Greenock: The Sea Captain Poet.
