A PRISONER has admitted to carrying out a violent attack on a fellow inmate at Greenock jail earlier this year.

Jordan Daldry pleaded guilty to assaulting a man inside HMP Greenock on March 18.

The 27-year-old repeatedly punched and kicked the victim on his head and body to his injury.

Daldry, who not represented by a solicitor at a sheriff court hearing on Friday, submitted a letter intimating his guilty plea to the charge.

The court heard that Daldry, who is now locked up at a different prison, has previous convictions for similar offences.

Sheriff Anthony McGeehan deferred sentence until July 10.
